When All Is Equal To Us

When everything is equal to us, we watch life go by without feeling any pleasure or joy. We walk unmotivated, discouraged and listless. However, now might be the perfect time to make a radical change: the journey to self-discovery.
When all is equal to us

When everything is equal to us … is everything really indifferent to us? Where to start ? What to say ? When nothing matters to you, you think of nothing and you think of everything. But… who doesn’t think of anything? What do you think of everything? What does it mean you don’t care?

The concept is so broad that we don’t even know what to say, right? When we ask someone, “What is it?” They say, “Well, I don’t know everything.”

Sometimes we find ourselves at a point in our lives when we don’t know which direction to take. It’s common to be immersed in a state where everything doesn’t really matter to us. What we liked ceased to please us. What amused us now bothers us. What is happening to us? Why has everything ceased to please us?

An inner void opens up in our soul, one that absorbs every gram of happiness that we can feel. What’s going on ?

When all is equal to us.

When all is equal to us

What does it mean to be indifferent to everything? Or rather, what does that imply? Often times we sit on the couch and watch our lives go by like it’s a movie. We go from the living room to the bathroom and from the bathroom to the living room. We go out shopping and cooking so that we don’t starve.

We carry out our daily activities almost by inertia, automatically. What is the reason for this reluctance? A state of unhappiness which surrounds us, embraces us and, little by little, tightens us more and more.

Our projects are complicated: friendship, economic, work, life … We travel the horizon in search of a light that transmits hope, but we do not seem to find it.

Who extinguished the last ray of joy? Who extinguished the last lighthouse? We do not know what is going on, but our life seems to be deteriorating and without possibility of stopping such a decline. Perhaps we can silently begin to find the answers.

At these times, it doesn’t matter if it’s raining, if the weather is nice, if the wind blows us away or if someone is giving us a sermon. Our answer will surely be something like: “yes” and we will continue to be immersed in our world.

Attachment to the material and the spiritual will have hit bottom. Apathy invades our life and our reaction to pleasant stimuli has almost disappeared. Anhedonia has entered our lives.

What can we do when everything is equal?

Being lost in the middle of the sea without even seeing the flash of a light that illuminates our path can be heartbreaking. But all is not lost. When everything is equal to us, many times we do not even want to ask for help from a professional, why do we? I have no choice but to think. But this is not the case, we have other choices.

The mind has acquired a series of thought patterns throughout our learning history. These thoughts made us believe that existence is a certain way.

However, in the same way that we think reality is black, we can also see it white, blue, red, or the color of the rainbow. Because there is not just one color to see existence, they are all valid and the best thing is that we don’t have to take just one point of view.

If we think it is about choosing an ideology and sticking to it, we are wrong. Life is too diverse to position us on one side. In this way, we will only limit ourselves.

At this point, it’s time to start thinking that our catastrophic worldview is just that, our vision… an acquired belief. And what does that imply? That we can unlearn or, where appropriate, learn a new way to change our relationship with the world, with others, and with ourselves.

Connect with your interior when all is equal to you

When we’re lost and nothing matters to us, it’s time to ask ourselves if we’re really leading the life we’d like. So it’s time to sit down, to think about what we want, what motivates us, what moves us. It can take hours, days, weeks, months …

Connecting with our interior through introspection will help us eliminate all those conditions that prevent us from observing our true motives.

Mindfulness is a very powerful tool that will undoubtedly help us discover a part of ourselves that we were completely ignoring. Through introspection, we will begin to leave alien voices behind us that will tell us what we should be or what we should do.

When we cross these boundaries, we begin to discover the light that shines within us without distortion. We know, at that time, to what extent we were limited by outside demands.

As His Holiness the Dalai Lama states, Our conscious mind is related both to objects with which we have had experience in the past and to certain types of feelings or sensations. In this sense, it is very difficult to perceive the true nature of consciousness, which corresponds to the pure state of knowledge or the total luminosity of the mind. ”

For this, the Dalai Lama assures us that “one of the possible techniques to use to apprehend this state is meditation. With this, we free our minds from thoughts of past experiences and any form of anticipation of the future, to stay in the present moment. ”

When everything interests us

When we connect with our authentic nature, we begin to observe our surroundings in another color. The simple leaf of a tree seems to us a fascinating creation of nature. We focus our attention on breathing and question our complex body, full of elements: muscles, bones, arteries, neurons, etc.

Through meditation, we find that what surrounds us is much more interesting than we thought. We can be fascinated to see the simple flapping of a bird’s wings. What is behind a bird’s flight?

As Zen Buddhist teacher Thich Nhat Hanh says: Inner silence is essential for being able to hear and respond to the call of beauty. If there is no silence within us – if our minds, our bodies are full of noise – we will not answer the call of beauty. ”

The teacher adds that our mind is full of noise, which is why we cannot hear the call of life, the call of love. Our heart calls us, but we do not hear it. We don’t have time to listen to it. ”

Little by little, we will appreciate the little vital details that were previously insignificant to us. In this way, we will also begin to realize what really motivates us. Self-realization will become an important factor.

We will know that being good people, being dedicated to others and not harming anyone are values so deep that we will make them our own. With these critiques, our lives will take a completely different direction. So remember, when everything is equal to you, it’s time to move on so that everything changes.
