The Kybalion Matching Principle
“What is above is like what is below; what is below is like what is above, ”says the Kybalion Correspondence Principle . This principle is probably the most popular of the Seven Hermetic Principles of Kybalion . We are talking about a document published in 1908 which claims to be the essence of the teachings of Hermes Trismegistus who, according to legend, was Abraham’s guide. These teachings seem to date back to ancient Egypt.
Each chapter of the Kybalion is dedicated to each of its seven principles or axioms which are considered universal laws. This school of thought dates back thousands of years. The principles it describes may well apply to a modern scenario, however. You just need to read it with an open mind. With the necessary disposition to understand the central essence of its axioms.
The principle of correspondence is the second of the seven hermetic principles of Kybalion . This principle expresses the idea that there is always correspondence between the laws of the phenomena of the various “planes” of being and of life.
What is above is like what is below; what is below is like what is above
This maxim establishes the fact that there is harmony between the physical plane, the mental plane and the spiritual plane. This maxim basically means that everything, all planes of existence, are connected and correspond. The macrocosm is in the microcosm and vice versa. Solar systems, societies, and life on Earth reflect the same.
The Kybalion Matching Principle means in an everyday environment that whatever we do at the micro level, we will do at the macro level. Even the smallest habits influence the grand pattern of our behavior. By doing anything, we will also do everything. If you neglect one area of your life, the rest will likely suffer from this neglect eventually. We are talking about a butterfly effect on a vital level.
The inner world is the cause, the outer world is the effect. We have to change the cause to change the effect. If there is chaos and havoc in our outer world, it means that there is chaos and havoc in our inner world. If there is very little love in our outer world, we probably do not count too much in our inner world either.
The way to control our inner world is not to try to control the outside world. This does not work. The way to achieve lasting results in controlling the outside world is to start controlling our inner world. Our inner world is the place over which we have almost absolute power.
This process allows us to stop looking outside for the unique reasons for what is happening to us and, instead, to find the answers. It is not always easy to accept and act on our problems, in order to heal the injured parts in our interior.
