Making The Moments That We Live More Beautiful, A Faculty Within The Reach Of All

Make the moments that we live more beautiful, a faculty within the reach of all

Life is a fantastic collection of moments: that is why making them beautiful and pleasant or embellishing them is one of the attitudes that most unites us to our nature. For most of our lives, we move forward with schedules, obligations, and activities that very often are stressful. These circumstances, if not managed properly, end up causing general discomfort, vital dissatisfaction, stress at work, anxiety and put us in a state of mind that we did not want.

Anyone can experience stressful times, feeling anxious, tired, and ultimately sad. Situations which should only be occasional in our life and which are becoming more and more common and frequent. In a way, this stress draws us until it catches us and, one fine day, when we get up, we end up saying “ what was it like, when I was enjoying life? How can we embellish moments? ”. Those moments that, when we were little, we produced so naturally, and of which, at a certain point, we forgot the recipe …

Making moments more beautiful, what does it consist of?

Making moments more beautiful is an emotional regulation capacity  developed by different fields, such as Positive Psychology or Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Borderline Personality Disorder by psychologist Marsha M. Linehan.

Let’s say it’s an emotional regulation faculty because it brings together all the behaviors and thoughts intended to enhance well-being and reduce different negative emotions like rage, anxiety or frustration. Making a moment more beautiful is a very useful faculty for facing obligations and everyday situations with a positive point of view.

How can you make your daily obligations more enjoyable?

1. Live in the moment

First of all, making a moment more beautiful is a faculty that requires being able to isolate oneself from the past and the future. Practicing mindfulness can help you here. In other words, as you go about your daily activities, you need to be able to stop for a minute and then observe and accept what you are going through.

Being able to live in the present moment is the first step in recovering that lost recipe we were talking about earlier. During these times, try to get to know your feelings, your surroundings, and the sensations you have of the movements you make or the stimuli that influence you (such as the water in the shower each morning).

2. The changes… Who spoke of fear?

The influence of atmosphere on our behavior and our emotions has been extensively studied by Environmental Psychology. To take advantage of this influence, you must first pay attention to the configuration of the environment in which you perform your tasks or obligations. Different studies explain how orderly environments, with natural light and familiar objects that remind us of good times, enhance our well-being and improve our performance.

“The purpose of life is to live it, to savor the experience to the fullest, to arrive fearlessly and with interest in new and rich experiences.”

-Eleanor Roosevelt-

Introducing or placing within the reach of your visual field images that remind you of your goals or achievements will also help you embellish moments and reinforce the feeling of well-being. You can also place phrases in strategic places  that motivate you and remind you why you have chosen the path you are following. In this way, you will improve your motivation and increase your capacity for effort and persistence.

Also, be sure to remove any objects or photos from your surroundings that cause you to have negative feelings. If you detect objects that do not give you good feelings or that bring back bad memories and if you place them in a place where they do not enter your visual field, you will also increase your well-being.

You have to remember that doing routine and boring tasks is easier if you do it in an environment that invites you to stay there, which gives you serenity and which makes you feel “right at home”.

3. Get used to the best materials or tools for work / study

It can be very positive to take care of the materials or instruments you work with – this is a detail of self-esteem. If you have to study, it’s best to take notes that are pleasing to the eye, have crisp, clear colors and images. Getting used to working with the best work or study materials will improve your performance and motivation. Some people think that spending time at this point is useless, when the opposite is true.

On the other hand, if you have already completed your studies and are now working, get used to working materials that appeal to you. Make sure you have everything you need to be able to do your job effectively. Having materials that you love and that make your job easier will help you view your tasks more positively.

For example, if you use a calendar, folders, and a computer, these can make your life easier if they are fun and if they make you want to use them when you look at them. You can put an image on your computer screen that motivates you, that awakens positive emotions in you. If you can listen to music while working, don’t hesitate a second, do it! Music improves performance and mood and improves creativity.

“When you are enthusiastic about what you are doing, you feel positive energy. It is very simple.”

-Paulo Coelho-

4. Pay attention to every detail in your daily habits

Meals usually create very pleasant moments of interaction and, therefore, embellish everything. To enhance your overall well-being, it can be helpful to take care of the details when eating. Making the food make you want to eat it, having the table set well, putting flowers or candles, even if it’s just for you, will make you enjoy every moment to the fullest.

All of these little details are picked up by your mind and allow you to load your backpack with positive emotions and motivation. In this sense, making a moment more beautiful will allow you to benefit from your routine. It’s true that paying attention to every detail takes effort, but it’s worth the effort because it has a positive impact that falls directly on you and the people you love.
