Full-time mothers do a wonderful job, but sometimes they end up forgetting themselves. Worries, lack of rest, and paying attention to multiple things at the same time can affect their mental health. So, we’re going to discover five healthy habits for full-time moms so they can solve all of these problems.

Before we study and think about each habit,  we need to be aware that sometimes we will have a hard time putting them in place. Lots of unforeseen events can arise and prevent what we had planned well in advance. So you always have to be flexible. If the habits we are going to describe cannot be put into practice or require special adaptation, it does not matter. You just have to learn to take care of yourself.

1. Make time for yourself

Full-time mothers need time for themselves, to take care of themselves and attend to their needs. The problem is precisely that the majority of these women are employed. A good option is to get up very early in the morning. That way everyone will be sleeping and they can enjoy a few minutes for themselves.

They can take advantage of this moment to pamper themselves or to organize their day in their agenda. They can also play sports, read a book, take a relaxing bath or have a leisurely lunch. The important thing is to enjoy something they love and can’t do at other times of the day.

2. Provide quality time for their children

Full-time mothers spend most of the day with their children. But the fact that they are physically with them does not imply that they offer them quality time. What does that mean? That if they don’t play with their children or talk to them only to scold them or tell them what to do, they are not participating in their development.

Playing with children, listening to them, stopping doing things and sitting down to talk to them, to laugh, to do silly things with them is essential  and will be of benefit to mothers as well as to the little ones. Thanks to this, their bond will be strengthened and mothers will be able to find the little girl they once were. So infantile, so innocent and for which everything seemed like a novelty.

3. Enjoy (without children!)

Children are the most important people for a mother, but as we mention the importance of having time for them,  it is also important that mothers can enjoy time without their children. For example, by meeting their friends or going to dinner with their spouse.

Having children and being a full-time mother doesn’t mean you have to do everything with them. Thinking in this way can mean destroying friendships and also the relationship of a couple. As adults, we need to have time for our family but also for our relationships. It is therefore essential to organize yourself. The ideal is to strike a balance.

4. Not wanting to do everything

Full-time mothers feel responsible for a lot of things. They believe they have to take care of everything and leave no space for other people to help them. They have a great sense of responsibility from which they find it very difficult to escape.

One of the reasons full-time moms try to do a lot of things, thus avoiding having free time for themselves, is because they feel guilty. Society defines very clearly what a mother should be, how she should act, and this pressure is always present. Even so, there is no such thing as a perfect mother, and thinking about yourself to enjoy time without the kids or to take care of yourself doesn’t mean being selfish. Being aware of this point will make all of these mothers feel much better and enjoy greater emotional well-being.

4. Keep learning

Full-time mothers feel they don’t have time for anything. In fact,  they dedicate themselves exclusively to their children, putting aside their personal aspirations and goals. However, even being in this case, it is possible to find a balance.

Thanks to the multitude of possibilities provided by the Internet,  it is possible to continue learning, for example through online courses or even working from home.

Being a mother and being completely devoted to your children is an extremely satisfying job. However, one should never put aside other areas of life that need to be nurtured. Let us remember that  children grow up and will leave the family nest much faster than we think. What will happen at this precise moment? We will probably feel a void. It is therefore important to find time, even if it is only a few minutes, to call this friend, spend time with her spouse or watch this video on a knowledge or a subject that we would like to develop or deepen.
